Flax eggs are an easy substitute for eggs in baking recipes like pancakes, muffins, cookies, and cakes. Use for vegan baking, egg allergies, to add more fibre to your baking or if you simply run out of eggs.
In Baking, 1 Flax Egg = 1 Egg.
Step 1: To make 1 Flax Egg. In a small bowl, add 1 Tbsp (15 mL) ground flax.
Step 2: Add 3 Tbsp (45mL) warm water.
Step 3: Stir occasionally as mixture thickens. This may take 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 4: Once thick, add to your baking recipes in place of an egg. Note this recipe is easily doubled or tripled to make 2 or even 3 Flax eggs.
